Altered intercellular communication - hallmarks of aging

Communication between cells is an essential component of many biological processes. Aging is associated with a malfunction of this intercellular communication, including in the skin.⁽¹⁾

Intercellular communication occurs through direct contact between cells or through circulating signaling molecules. Aging is associated with a progressive alteration of this intercellular communication, which can compromise the general homeostasis.

Restoring intercellular communication in the skin is, therefore, essential to slowing down the aging process and reversing the effects of time.⁽¹⁾
